Yes, that is what it took 50 years! I remember my second grade reading textbook showing had a picture of a car driving through a giant redwood. I said myself, I want to do that someday. I did not have the type of parents who park their kids in the car or even realize the importance of getting out of the city. We never went to camp and by we I mean all the kids I grew up with we were children of a concrete jungle.
Over the years one thing or another got in the way. The closest i came was a few years ago Sarah and I were in San Francisco and going to rent a car when she fell and hurt herself and another dream went by the boards.
My best friend once describe me as having a mind like a steel trap, once it is set nothing escapes from its grip. So here i am at the Chandler Trip, in Leggett Ca. The event of finally doing and driving through it has its significance in what it says about me and the kind of man I am who never gives up, quits and accomplishes what he wants. I see it, I want it, I work for it, it is mine! Simple.
So here I am smiling.
