On to Bandon....

We got up early headed to Double D's for an enormous breakfast. We made our way up the coast to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Not because we intend to golf but to see the buildings Bill designed in the late 90's. Bandon Dunes is a high end resort with rooms/cottages costing as much as $2000 a night. The place is hugh. The drive from the entrance to the main lodge must have been a half a mile. We parked ad got out into a nice summer windy day on the coast.

Bill gather his bearings as to which Buildings he actually worked on. There were many to choose. We headed to the main lodge passing numerous golf carts through an outdoor courtyard with a fireplace, benches and chairs to reach the main lodge.

As we enter the two story main lodge smack in the center of the lobby I see a mini stone circle! Four 8-10 foot granite stones grouped together as people sat around in chairs. I couldn't believe it. I said Bill you didn't tell me you designed a stone circle. The seeing of the stone circle made me think on his wanting to go to Scotland and gave me a better perspective on his dream of visiting stone circle. I said what an amazing achievement to have done something this beautiful. The stones stood under hanging lighting fixtures from the ceiling giving off a southwester feel.

The grounds and buildings overlooked the dunes golf coast which overlooked the ocean. He said the owner wanted to designed it like a Scotland golf course. I asked Bill if he wrote his initials in any of the concrete in the place. I know I would have. He laughed and off we went to the bar.....
